The spool of this reel is CNC machined from cold forged 6061 aluminium to extremely high tolerances, vented for weight relief and is fully anodized for salt water protection. The back is our traditional stainless steel back with rolled edges and ‘fish tail’ cross for added strength.

This is combined with the proven metal side cast system and a stylish metal embossed badge. The fish alert switch can be engaged when leaving the rod and reel unattended to warn you of a fish taking line. A 55mm diameter single carbon drag washer gives an ultra smooth drag. The stainless steel vacuum coated tensioning wheel allows quick access to your drag settings.

There is also the drag on / off lever on the back of the reel to completely disengage the drag if required. Ported and anodized handles have been fitted to the rapid retrieve handle plate assembly. This allows up to 30% faster recovery using the internal handle rather than the cranking 1:1 outer handle.

The counter balance provides for smooth winding whilst retrieving line. Use the power handle for handling fish and the rapid retrieve handle for retrieving unbaited hooks or even spinning a lure.

The 65GVCR has the rapid retrieve handle plate system. This can give you up to 30% increase in recovery rate using the smaller handle and still gives fish stopping 1:1 power in the larger outer handle. Vented design reduces weight and looks great. The venting also allows sand to be rinsed out easily in salt water while fishing. This reel is fitted with an on/off switch to engage the powerful drag system. The tri-star nut gives more than enough drag pressure to control large fish. The smooth clutch is a multi-plate design with polished brass plates combined with PTFE coated woven glass washer which can also withstand very high temperatures. A fish alert switch on the back side of the reel can be engaged when leaving the rod and reel unattended to warn you of a fish taking line. If you bait fish most of the time but occasionally like to throw out a lure this is the reel for you.

The 65GVCRT incorporates the new Turbo Cast mechanism and has the addition of a rapid retrieve handle plate system. This handle plate system can give you up to 30% increase in recovery rate using the smaller handle and still gives fish stopping 1:1 power in the larger outer handle. Casting with the Turbocast System improves your distance by keeping the reel slightly further away from the rod allowing the line to flow more freely.

ALVEY SURF CHAMPION 70C (Left Hand Crank, Right Hand Crank)

This is the biggest diameter surf casting reel with a stainless steel back plate, metal side cast and a strong compression molded spool. A good recovery rate combined with a smooth strong multi-plate clutch makes an good surf reel for the longer rods chasing big fish in the surf.

The large diameter spool makes this reel ideal for bait spinning and can be used for deep sea fishing on a short boat rod again because of the good recovery rate. The smooth clutch is a multi-plate design with polished brass plates combined with fiber friction washers which can also withstand very high temperatures. For a smooth clutch action use Alvey Reel Oil in the clutch washers.
